Section 122 Tariff Surcharge Scheduled to End July 24

The temporary 10% Section 122 import surcharge is currently scheduled to end at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on July 24, 2026. This means the scheduled end occurs at the beginning of July 24, unless it is extended by Congress or another official action changes the current requirements.
What Importers Should Know
- The surcharge took effect on February 24, 2026.
- Covered goods are reported under HTSUS 9903.03.01.
- The surcharge applies to covered goods entered for consumption or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption during the 150-day period.
- Certain products and entries are exempt under the official guidance.
- Other duties, taxes, fees, and applicable trade remedies may still apply.
Timing Still Matters
Importers should confirm:
- Whether the goods are entered for consumption or withdrawn from warehouse
- The applicable entry date and time
- The correct HTSUS classification
- Whether an exemption applies
- Whether additional CBP guidance has been issued
Foreign trade zone merchandise, Chapter 98 entries, warehouse withdrawals, and other special entry situations may require closer review.

Importers with shipments arriving near the scheduled end should contact their customs broker before filing and confirm:
- The applicable entry date and time
- The correct entry type
- The HTSUS classification
- Exemption eligibility
